Texas Ebony Block TE-551 3" x 3" x 9.3" 3.3 lbs. This attractive Texas Ebony block is about 80% the dark chocolate-brown of the Ebony heartwood and 20% the lighter honey-blonde of the Ebony sapwood. The grain pattern is mostly linear across the block. There are some minor surface blemishes (darker coloring) that will remove easily with turning or sanding. The block has several checks in the sapwood. They appear to be restricted to the sapwood only and do not penetrate the heartwood. Most of these will turn off if bringing the block to round. I see no other cracks or structural concerns in this block. |
