Sycamore Block Sy-232x 1.8" x 1.8" x 12" 0.9 lbs. This is a rough-sawn end-grain spindle of American Sycamore (Platanus occidentalis, the American planetree). It is maple-like in appearance, with the sapwood a tan color and the heartwood a slightly darker tan to peach color. These spindles are mostly sapwood so tend to the lighter shades. This piece has been air-dried to a moisture content of 10-12%. Photos represent this size of spindle and may not show the exact spindle you receive. |
