Spalted Oak Block SO-438 2.1" x 2.1" x 12" 1.1 lbs. This is an end grain block of heavily spalted white oak. The spalting is strong, with lots of black line spalting. The wood is still fairly dense and strong; you probably will not need to stabilize during turning. This block has a bit of wane along one edge, as shown in the photos. There are a few bug tunnel entrances, which might appear as vugs in a finished turning. I see no cracks or other flaws in this block |
