This is a set of two Mesquite knife scales that will make a beautiful knife handle.   The color is the rich, reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood.  The grain is long and linear throughout.  It is 100% heartwood with no sapwood or bark. 

This is a rough-cut set of scales that you will want to plane or sand smooth.  I see no cracks, checks, or other flaws.
