This is a small quarter-sawn board - one of a set of five book-matched boards of the M-517 set (photos happen to be of board "B"). The color is the reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood, with a strong linear grain pattern. Each of these boards looks very similar to the rest.
I see no cracks, checks or other flaws.
