Live Oak Block LO-515 2.2" x 2.2" x 14.7" 2.2 lbs. This is an attractive block of Texas-grown Live Oak. It's about 80% heartwood, 20% sapwood. The block is S4S, but it's a bit off-kilter such that the axis is slightly inclined. See photos. The block has fairly straight grain and has no visible knots. There are a couple of fine end-grain cracks that die out within an inch. You can stabilize, but it is probably not necessary. |
