This is an attractive block of Green Ash with a mostly-linear grain pattern.  While this comes from a tree that was spalted, this block does not appear to have any spalting on the observable faces.

One end has a couple of cracks that extend 2-3" into the block.  We've discounted this block due to the end cracks; the remaining 8" or more of the block are solid and strong.  There is one edge with a thin line of bark, and one small branch-included knot, as shown in the photos.
