Lacebark Elm Block CE-49
2.3" x 2.3" x 11.75"
This is a very nice and interesting end-grain block of Lacebark Elm. The color is an overall golden brown with a hint of rose; this is a very warm and attractive piece of wood. There is a subtle gradation of color saturation from heartwood to sapwood.
This block was cut from the outer portion of the log, well away from the pith. There are several frass-filled bug boreholes and one open bug borehole in the block, see photo 3. The open borehole intersects the back face opposite the label, and it may penetrate through the block. It is partially frass-filled. I see no cracks or other flaws.
