|Batch of Mystery Wood
Here are two nice blocks of Texas-grown Mystery Wood. We call it Mystery Wood when we don't know the species with confidence. I'm guessing that these are Texas Ash, a variety of White Ash. But who knows!?
Both blocks are 2.3" square. One is 4.7" long, and the other is 5.4". Both are air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. They'll make a nice pair of turnings, perhaps wine glasses, bottle stoppers, duck calls, or small turned boxes.
There are a few bug holes and open knots. There are lots of photos -- be sure to scroll down below the first 3. I've carefully rotated each block, so that you can see all sides and ends.
