Alder Bowl Blank Ald71
8" x 8" x 4.5"
3.7 lbs.
This is an attractive Red Alder bowl blank. The wood is an overall peachy-brown color with warm undertones of red and yellow. Alder tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, so please browse the photos to get a sense of this particular piece's character. This bowl blank has a complete and well-attached gray-brown bark on the backside. It may even have some moss attached.
This half-log bowl blank should be suitable for a bowl or winged vessel. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. If you want a full bark edge on the "natural" rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning.
This is a GREEN to partially-dry block of wood, measured at 25% moisture content in July 2024. If you need a current moisture content, please message us so that we can check its status for you.
