Satsuma Block Ss443 1.6" x 1.6" x 6" 0.4 lbs. This is wood from a Satsuma Mandarin Orange tree (Citrus unshiu). We've cut it into spindles ready for turning on your lathe. These are end-grain spindles of light brown color with some darker portions that are gray-brown. We've air-dried the spindles to 8-10% moisture content, sealing the ends carefully with Anchor Seal to reduce the chance of cracks forming while drying. There are fine open cracks in most of these blanks that you can touch up with thin CA glue prior to turning. See photos for examples of what the cracks look like, as they are present in most of the blanks. Price is for one single block. We have a number of them cut, all of very similar character. These are unique pieces of wood that you'll enjoy turning. These came from a Texas tree (Fort Bend County, TX) that froze during the Valentine's Day freeze of 2021. |
