This is an attractive long spindle, just slightly shy of 1” in dimension.  I would estimate this to be 30% the dark brown color of Texas Ebony heartwood and 70% the honey-beige sapwood.  The grain is long and mostly linear, with a few gentle bends in the sapwood.  This will make a very attractive turning, with the interface between heartwood and sapwood being well exposed in the block interior. 


I see no cracks, checks, or flaws.
