Mesquite Block M-1037 1.5" x 1.5" x 5" 0.5 lbs. This is a pretty piece of Texas Mesquite, just the right size for a duck call or other small turning. The color is the deep reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood. The grain is mostly linear to gently curving, and there are several nice burl bud clusters present that catch the eye. There are several during-growth cracks present, from when the tree was stressed and cracked by wind while growing. These have spalted nicely and may need some stabilizing while turning.
