This is an attractive spindle of Texas-grown Silver Maple.  It has an overall light golden tone to the wood with a fine, even grain texture. It is irregularly shaped, so please flip through the photos to get a sense of the dimensions. The smaller end of the block measures 1.5" x 1.8". The larger end is the full 2" x 2.3".

The grain runs parallel to the long axis of the spindle and has gentle curves. There are a few small knots, generally of 1/4" diameter or smaller. This wood has been fully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. This block is rough-sawn. The bark face is loosely attached; if you wish to keep the bark, secure it with CA glue.
