This is a small rift-sawn board of Texas Eastern Red Cedar. It is entirely deep reddish-purple heartwood with a smoothly linear to gently curving grain pattern. 

The board is sealed with Anchor Seal and has been air-dried to ~12% moisture content. The front face has a small wane edge, as shown in the photos.  There are a couple of minor drying cracks on the bottom face; you may wish to stabilze them with CA glue prior to turning.
