Black Walnut Block BW-387 1.5" x 1.6" x 14.2" 0.8 lbs. This is a very attractive block of moderately spalted Black Walnut. It is a mix of heartwood and sapwood (about 50%/50%) with clean, uncomplicated grain pattern. There is a beautiful transition of colors from darker to lighter, with some spalting mixed in. The colors are an overall light brown with bands of darker-brown spalting. This particular piece has some patchiness to the color (see photos) that will be eye-catching in a finished product. There are a couple of superficial sawblade marks that will turn or sand off -- none of these are penetrating the block. |
