Silver Maple Block SM-234 2" x 2" x 6.8" 0.6 lbs. This is a pretty spindle of Texas-grown Silver Maple. It has an overall light golden tone to the wood with a fine, even texture. There are hints of gray and brown striping, and a slight bit of black-line spalting here and there. There are occasional small knots of a slightly darker brown color; most of these knots are 1/4" across or less. We've cut these pieces as end-grain pieces, so that the long grain runs parallel to the short dimension of the block. In other words, two of the long faces are end-grain faces. This wood has been fully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. I see no cracks, flaws, or other issues with this block. Please scroll down below the first several photos to see all images. |
