This is a small slab of Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii) grown and sustainably recovered on San Juan Island, Washington. It was taken from near the center of the trunk (excluding pith), giving it attractive figure including eye-catching cathedral grain. There is one small, through-going open knot that you may choose to keep open or fill.
This slab has one live edge and one squared edge. The bark on this one is complete and well-attached. Slab has been wet down with alcohol (safe for the wood grain) in a few photos to give you a preview of the finish. This piece has been planed on both faces.
