Western Red Cedar Spindle WRC422
2" x 2" x 12"
0.75 lbs.

These air-dried Western Red Cedar spindle blanks are cut to 2" x 2" x 12" and are ready for your lathe or carving tools. Lightweight, aromatic, and easy to work, Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) is a favorite for both functional and decorative projects.

Each spindle features the wood's signature reddish-brown tones and a smooth, straight grain that turns cleanly. Each blank is fairly straight-grained with a fine, even texture, except for the occassional small knot. These long spindles are ideal for turning lightweight tool handles, candleholders, wind instrument parts, or similar projects.

Some blanks may have minor knots or small cracks, which can be stabilized with CA glue if desired. Each piece has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content, ensuring stability and optimal workability. The grain runs parallel to the long axis for added strength. Our blanks are cut in batches, so your piece will closely resemble those shown. The wet-look photos show wood that's been dampened with alcohol to give you a preview of the finish.
