Batch of Mystery Wood 5 Pieces 1.6 lbs. This is a set of 4 mystery wood spindles. They're each 1.4" x 1.4" x 3.1". They are fully dry. This set is discounted because each block has a minor imperfection -- a wane edge or a crack that you'll need to secure with CA glue prior to turning. I'm not sure what type of wood this is, but my guess is an oak -- perhaps a red/water oak. They were mistakenly labeled as bald cypress, hence the "Cy" label on the blocks. After seeing the grain and color, I think that it's unlikely to be cypress. It has the open-pore texture and wormy quartersawn grain of a red oak. |
