This attractive Cherry bowl blank has straight grain and a warm pinkish-brown hue. It has complete bark on the backside. This is a classic half-log blank, split through the center of the log. The heartwood is fine-grained and has no visible porosity. The sapwood has visible porosity and may require a gentle touch turning and finishing. There is one small crack in the end grain, as shown in the close-up photo. You may wish to stabilize this with CA glue prior to turning. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. The bark on this piece is a bit loose around the edges. If you want to preserve a full bark edge on the natural rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This blank has been air-dried to achieve a moisture content of less than 10%. It is ready for finish-turning.
