These are aged and slightly spalted Bodark pen blanks. Bodark goes by many names: Osage Orange, Hedge, Hedge Apple, Bois d'Arc, and Horse Apple. These will make gorgeous writing pens with a deep golden tone to the wood.
Blanks are cut to "Texas Size", a bit bigger than your average pen blank; usually 0.9" x 0.9" x 6" long. Photos show a range of typical Bodark pen blanks. They are thoroughly air dried and are ready to turn.
